For over 20 years, the IRCA has been offering shelter to those children and teenagers who found themselves in situation of great vulnerability, offering them a home and a safe and caring environment. Since 2019, the IRCA has been launching a series of artistic activities aimed at reaching out to the whole community of Limon and the surroundings areas and to directly involve the wider society in the actions of the IRCA.
In 2022, thanks to the financial support of the French Embassy in Honduras, it has been possible to develop a new project: a charity canteen for the children of the community. Currently, there is an urgent need to renovate the building, in order to make it safe and hygienic. The restoration of the kitchen, panned in 2023, will make the launch of the project "comedor infantil y solidario" possible.
The objective of the "solidarity canteen" is to feed about 40 children per week, aged from 2 to 15, with a focus on those most affected by malnutrition. The canteen will be open from Monday to Saturday, from 10 am to 6pm, serving two meals a day (lunch and snacks). The space will also offer the opportunity to monitor the children's nutritional and scholastic development.
